TS137-DG

TS137-DG adds a new level to an existing building on Torstraße in Berlin-Mitte: a light glass house on the roof that contrasts with the solid, rendered facades below. The pitched glazed volume recalls the typology of greenhouses and winter gardens, while its roof profile continues the silhouette of the Berlin block.

Inside, the rooftop becomes a landscape of living spaces, planted walls and a small courtyard with a swing, open to the sky and to panoramic views over the city. A perforated metal screen covered with climbing plants filters light and views towards the neighbours. The project demonstrates how the roofs of the city can become new places to live, lightweight additions that respect the existing building while offering a completely different spatial experience.
