MUGG09

MUGG09 adds a new rooftop storey to an existing residential building on a busy street in Berlin. The extension integrates dormers and roof windows into a new pitched roof that continues the silhouette of the historic facade.

Axonometric drawings, plans, sections and elevations show how the new level has been carefully fitted onto the existing structure, including the courtyard side. The design aims for continuity rather than contrast: the new roof reads as a natural completion of the building, while providing bright new apartments with views over the city.
