CONIL

CONIL is a pavilion on the rocky coast, positioned where the land ends and the sea begins. A long, low volume with a thin, projecting roof rests on a stone base that continues the rocks of the shoreline. The building is almost entirely glazed, so that the horizon and the movement of the water become the main content of the interior.

The architecture is reduced to a few horizontal lines: the platform, the roof and the edge of the cliff. Seen from the water, the pavilion appears as a thin shadow in the landscape; seen from inside, it becomes a frame for light, wind and waves. The project explores how a building on an exceptional site can be both present and discreet, amplifying the qualities of the place rather than competing with them.
